Climate change is everybody’s business

by | Leadership, Mindset, Personal Development, UN SDG's

You now have a plan to transform your business but how about an individual response to climate crisis?

There are so many things that you can do we have made a fun list of actions you can take to last you at least a month.

HOT Tip: Bookmark this list and try at least one new action item per day.  Imagine the difference in your life in a month from today.

Activate your personal action plan now.

  1. Change your search engine to Ecosia (it’s free) and help plant trees around the world whilst you search. Ecosia uses at least 80% of its surplus income to finance reforestation and conservation projects around the world. It even shows you how many trees you can help plant!
  2. See the joyful documentary film 2040. Great for the whole family. Highly energising and entertaining.
  3. After you have watched the film join The Regeneration Movement.
  4. Activate your simple to follow plan here.
  5. Download the 1 Million Women app to join women and girls from every corner of the planet building a lifestyle revolution to solve the climate crisis.
  6. Reduce key personal sources of emissions by measuring your existing carbon footprint here or here and then try the following list to get you to neutral : **
  7. Switch to renewable energy providers .
  8. Divest from super funds that invest in fossil fuels & invest in those that support climate solutions
  9. Switch banks. You can check here to see if your bank is currently funding fossil fuels and if it has any specific policies around climate change .
  10. Reduce fossil-fuel transport (eg flying, driving) by video-conferencing, using public transport, electric vehicles.
  11. Install a solar system & battery:
  12. Buy less products: most industry uses significant coal-fired power. Look closely at that next purchase. Do you really need it? Could you recycle or up-cycle it when done with it?
  13. Stop buying fast fashion items. The clothing industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions & fast fashion items which last on average 35 days produce 400% more carbon emissions per item than longer lasting clothing.
  14. Give up polyester forever. Nearly 70 million barrels of oil are used each year to make the world’s polyester fiber, which is now the most commonly used fiber in our clothing. But it takes more than 200 years to decompose. Eat more plant based meals.
  15. Going plant based seems obvious for humans but what about your pets? I confess I am just trying this one now because I can’t bear to feed my dog the endless kilos of kangaroo meat she eats right now whilst I see the starving kangaroos of the drought and fires in Australia right now.
  16. How about this bigger stretch suggestion from Dave Gravina “A pragmatic approach could be to set yourself a “moral carbon budget”. Currently Aussies are the 2nd highest carbon emitters per capita in the world, around 28 Tn per person. The global avg is about 4 Tns. It’s hard to get to 8 Tn here, but possible”
  17. It’s so easy to reduce your waste by becoming a proud worm farmer by joining Compost Revolution. Many local councils subsidise new worm farm purchases.
  18. Double your efforts by sharing this list with all your friends and family. Together we can really make a difference.
